Garden Basics

The common snowball bush is a part of this genus, as is the cranberrybush viburnum (Viburnum trilobum), a tough species whose red fruit clusters last well into the winter. Shown at right is the wayfaring tree viburnum.

Your Lawn

This trio of deer planters is a great way for do-it-yourselfers (and animal lovers) to add a little wildlife to the yard this summer.

Greener lawn care
At last, summer is sweeping over lawns. Once again, the grass is green and inviting. Perhaps you considered letting go of those 40-pound bags of chemical fertilizers and bottles of scary weed killers. Let your grass out of its chemical prison so it can spread its roots in healthy, safe, full-of-life soil.
